Overview
Rakuten.jp is Rakuten's flagship e-commerce marketplace in Japan — the company's home market and one of the largest online shopping platforms in the country. The frontend work focused on delivering localized shopping experiences for Japanese users across product discovery, search, checkout, and account management.
Role & Responsibilities
Senior UI Engineer (via TSSS Infotech)
- Built and maintained marketplace UI components for the Japan storefront
- Implemented Japanese localization patterns (ja-JP) across product and checkout flows
- Developed responsive layouts optimized for Japan's mobile-first shopping behavior
- Integrated regional payment and account features used in the Japanese market
- Collaborated with cross-regional teams on shared marketplace design patterns
